application letter

to whom it may concern

I would like to take this opportunity to apply for the mechanics technician position as advertised by MAC garages. I have always been very interested in working in the motor industry, for the last 4 weeks I have been taking part in the school gateway program where every week I work towards my MITO ignition pre- trade coarse and I also go out for one day and do work experience at Clarkes Autos in lake Hawea. I have loved every day at the workplace and I’ve been on time with the correct gear and a positive attitude, I’ve been given a handful of different jobs such as changing break pads and rotors, doing oil and filter changes and cleaning an engine block. Many of the jobs I have been assigned while at gateway I have been asked to do independently which I was able to complete successfully.

Although my experience is fairly limited I make up for it in enthusiasm and a can do attitude. As experience goes in mechanics the only workshop experience I have had has been through the gateway program. I have enjoyed working on my own motorbike and car over the last few years and everything I have learnt I have done so though trial and error, family and friends. I enjoy the challenge of working out what the problem might be and the satisfaction of working through the process of solving it.

While at school I have always enjoyed woodwork and metal work and I have chosen these subjects since year 7. I have gained knowledge of most tools and how they work in the workshop. Combining these skills, my positive attitude and my eagerness to learn. I think I would be the perfect candidate for the position with you. I hold a current restricted drivers licence and ab eligible to sit my full licence on the 21/02/19.

I was excited to read your advertisement regarding this position as it sounds as though I have all the attributes to be a part of your team. I have grown up my whole life loving the idea of motors and cars and to see that that was big part of what you are looking for in your own workshop made me really want to be a part of your team. I have worked in a workshop before and I learnt pretty quick that a fashion doesn’t really matter if you are covered in thick black oil also mobile phones don’t fair too well against the oil so that stays in my pocket till lunch time or after work.

I also have experience working in hospitality as I have worked at Sailz for the past 3 years as being the front of house and in the kitchen. While working here I have been reliable, punctual and adaptable, I am happy to work at any assigned jobs such as serving customers, cooking, restocking and end of shift cleaning. I have had enjoyed great feedback from my boss and the customers regarding my ability to keep myself busy and excellent communication and customer service.

Thank you for taking the time to read my application and I look forward to your positive reply,

Yours faithfully,

Shea Williams
